How many scholarships are there?

Receiving a sports scholarship is the ultimate goal for all our athletes. But how many teams actually exist and how many full scholarships can they award? In archery men and women have equal chances in receiving a scholarship. Here are the current numbers: Universities with archery teams:

  • Men: 35
  • Women: 27

Full scholarships per team:

  • Men: 3,6
  • Women: 3,6

How is the training and the season structured in the USA?

The training is similar to practice programs in other parts of the world. However, the emphasis on team spirit is in the forefront during training, so that the teammates push each other to achieve top performances. The coaches are mostly full-time employees at the university and take care of the team without restrictions. In addition, the athletes have full access to physical therapists, weight trainers and nutritionists and can enjoy the high-class training facilities that many universities offer. Young athletes can develop to a higher level while in the USA.

The season usually starts at the beginning of October and ends – depending on how you or your team perform – in mid-March with the national championships. In between there are competitions almost every weekend.
